What is an Occasional Table?
Well, there’s a clue in the name it’s a table that you use… occasionally. They are often small and fit well at the end of a sofa or by your favourite chair. They are a perfect place for your reading glasses and latest book for example.
Unlike a nest of tables where you usually have a set of three, the occasional table is a singular stand alone table, but it’s just as useful to have. An occasional table with a beautifully sculpted piece of art, or collection of found treasures, or a display of family photos can pull everything together and save the day.
Occasional tables must be used sparingly, because if you go overboard with them the room can look cluttered and messy. Put some thought into why it’s needed, but also points to remember if you have children or grand children…
